QUESTION TAGS

Tag question es una pequeña pregunta que se coloca al final de una oración, como acostumbramos en castellano a decir:¿no es verdad? o ¿Verdad?

Forma

Una oración positiva ( I am young) seguida de una pregunta negativa( am I not?)

Una oración negativa ( You are not late) seguida de una pregunta positiva ( aren´t you?)

La oración y la question tag siempre están separadas por una comaANALISIS DE LOS TAG QUESTIONS

Cualquier oración que incluya nobody, nothing, ect... serán consideradas oraciones negativas.

Nobody came, did it?

El tiempo verbal para la oración es el mismo de la tag question.

You are good pupil, aren´t you?

You were a good pupil, weren´t you?

You had been a good pupil, hadn´t you?

He eats meat, doesn´t he?

She has been traveling, hasn´t she?

She didn´t bought nothing new, did she?

USOS DE LOS TAG QUESTION

Para confirmar información:

You will start your travel, won´t you?

Para revisar información:

You have received my letter, haven´t you?

Si no sabemos la respuesta, entonces se el tag question se transforma en una pregunta real, y debemos darle la entonación correcta.

Nota: los tag question pueden ser utilizados como formas de sacarmo, burla, broma, ect:

He is very brave, isn´t he?

She is not a coward, isn´t she?

They were ready to help me, weren´t they?

Con  'let's', el tag question es 'shall we'. 
Let's go to the park, shall we?

Con un imperativo el tag quesion es will you

Shout the door, will you?

Cuando usamos una palabra que indica algo negativo como hardly, seldom, never, nobody,etc, el teg question es positivo:

Nobody came, did they?

Cuando el sujeto de un tag question es nothing, usamos did it, is it, etc:

Nothing bad happened, did it?

Cuando el sujeto de un tag questions es nobody, somebody, someone,no one, everybody o everyone, usamos they:

Nobody asked a question, did they?

Muchas veces con el verbo have, se utiliza do en el tag question

You have a new car, don´t you?

Cuando usamos used, utilizamos didn´t:

You used to live close to my home, didn´t you?

Para expresar asombro, extrañeza o sorpresa podemos usar un tag question positivo detrás de una oración positiva:

You are doctor now, are you?

You are going to Island, are you?
